Temporarily closed to to COVID-19

22. Mar 2020

In light of increased spread of COVID-19 and more strict stipulations regarding the ban on public events and gatherings, The Herring Era Museum will be closed to the general public from Monday 23rd of March, for the duration of the ban. There will therefore be no regular opening hours during Easter.

The staff of the museum will continue to work on various projects in the museum. These include; register our photo collections and create a new website for our collections, archiving interviews we gathered across Iceland last year, and updating our exhibitions and registration on our collection.

We wish our guests, Icelandic and foreign, the best of luck and good health. We look forward to opening our doors once this epidemic has passed and society is back on track.
