Kristín Jónsdóttir

Kristín Jónsdóttir, 1888-1958, studied at the Art Academy in Copenhagen. Together with Muggur, Jónsdóttir was one of the pioneers of Icelandic art. Her early paintings are in a romantic, naturalist style while later works show the influence of expressionism. Several well known oils and watercolors from the year 1923 show people at work and play in Siglufjörður's surroundings.
